TON Foundation Launches 'Hack-Proof' Bridge for Bitcoin
The TON Foundation has introduced a new bridge that allows users to transfer Bitcoin (BTC) into its ecosystem. The 'hack-proof' bridge enables the use of Bitcoin in TON's decentralized applications and lending platforms.
Talking about the security measures, Jack Booth, TON Foundation's marketing director, emphasized the use of trustless architecture. He explained that the bridge aims to be secure and transparent.
The TON Foundation has ambitious goals for its ecosystem. It wants to become a 'blockchain of blockchains', integrating top Web3 services into one network. This would improve interoperability and allow users to access features of other blockchains with their native tokens.
Bridge security is a concern, as seen in the 2022 Ronin Bridge hack that resulted in over $600 million in losses. To address this, TON's bridge uses a Simplified Payment Verification Client as a smart contract, which verifies Bitcoin block states directly on TON.
