TON Foundation Unveils Secure Bitcoin Bridge
The TON Foundation has introduced a new Bitcoin bridge, allowing users to transfer BTC into the TON ecosystem. This bridge enables the use of Bitcoin in TON's decentralized applications and lending platforms.
Ton's marketing director, Jack Booth, emphasized the security measures taken to ensure trustless architecture. The bridge is designed to be secure and transparent, aiming to eliminate private key compromises that have caused significant losses in the past.
Private key compromises have resulted in over $400 million in losses across 42 incidents in the first half of 2024. To prevent this risk, TON's Validators generate a joint public key using Distributed Key Generation and sign transactions with aggregated signatures using the FROST protocol.
