TON Validators Prepare Node Update Ahead of Crucial Collator Vote

Share

TON validators have been instructed to update their node software and mytonctrl tooling in preparation for a configuration vote tied to the network's new collator architecture. The update includes node commit 140320b and mytonctrl commit 7e90e26, which will prepare the network for a smoother transition to its new architecture. The configuration switch vote is scheduled for August 21 at 08:00 UTC.

Validator coordination is crucial in any blockchain upgrade, and TON's update process is no exception. If validators do not update their software correctly, the network can face delays, inconsistent behavior, or missed blocks. This is why precise commit versions and deadlines are included in the instructions to ensure a smooth transition.

The collator architecture is expected to improve how the network handles scale and coordination, leading to smoother performance under load. The vote status will be crucial, as validators need to confirm the result before considering the upgrade complete. If the vote is delayed or implementation requires more work, the upgrade remains in progress.
