Connecticut Attorney General William Tong has issued a warning to consumers about unregulated decentralized finance (DeFi) cryptocurrency exchanges, citing significant financial and security risks.

The platforms, including GMX, Gains Network, dYdX, Aevo, Drift Protocol, Vertex Protocol, and Hyperliquid, operate outside of state and federal regulatory frameworks and expose retail investors to substantial losses and predatory leverage.

Tong urged residents to thoroughly research these platforms before handing over any money, as they often lack critical consumer protections and can be difficult to recover from if something goes wrong.
