Tornado Cash Sees Record Activity as Drift Exploiter Moves Millions
Tornado Cash saw its busiest day of the year in July, processing 968 deposits worth $57.2 million on July 23.
The influx was largely driven by the Drift exploiter, who deposited $44.4 million into the mixer's Ethereum pools in under two hours through a single address labeled 'Drift Exploiter 4'.
This represents a significant rebound in usage for Tornado Cash since it was delisted by the US Treasury in March 2025 and follows a Fifth Circuit ruling that immutable smart contracts can't be sanctioned.
