Trade.xyz Pays Out After SK Hynix Contract Price Collapse
Trade.xyz, a platform offering synthetic onchain equity derivatives, has begun compensating users affected by a pricing incident in its SK Hynix perpetual futures contract. On July 27, 2026, at 23:01 UTC, the mark price of the contract plummeted from $1,127.90 to $917.25 in a single trade, resulting in approximately $60 million in liquidations across nearly 1,000 leveraged positions.
The incident occurred when a single trade executed on a thinly traded Korean pre-market venue was picked up by several data providers and fed into the oracle system used by Trade.xyz to determine mark prices. The platform acknowledged that its oracle functioned as intended, but this has been interpreted as an acknowledgment of the architecture's limitations.
Trade.xyz is distributing USDC payouts using a reference price of $1,115.50, which sits between the pre-incident mark price and the distorted low. Claims under $10,000 are being paid in full, while larger claims have received an initial tranche of $9,999, with the remainder pending review and verification.
The platform has stated that this compensation is a one-time goodwill measure and not a guarantee that it will absorb losses from future pricing anomalies. Trade.xyz plans to give greater weight to its onchain order book going forward, reducing dependence on external data feeds.
