TradeXYZ Begins Reimbursement for $60M SK Hynix Liquidation Event
The decentralized trading protocol TradeXYZ has started reimbursing affected traders following a $60M liquidation event tied to SK Hynix perpetual contracts. The flash crash on July 27th, triggered by an oracle pricing mishap and market volatility in South Korea, resulted in estimated losses of $17.4M across over 900 user accounts.
As part of the payout program, TradeXYZ has paid out victims with claims below $10K based on $1,115 per SK Hynix contract. However, wallets claiming larger amounts will require more review for final payout by August 15th. For amounts exceeding $10,000 USDC, an initial 9,999 USDC has been credited to facilitate due diligence.
The reimbursement plan aims to rebuild trust and market integrity in the Hyperliquid ecosystem. TradeXYZ's dominance of HIP-3 volumes, accounting for over 95% of Hyperliquid's volume and Open Interest, poses a 'structural risk' to the broader ecosystem, according to analysts. Critics argue that a level-playing field is necessary to ensure HIP-3 is more decentralized and reduce potential risks.
