TradFi Trading Volume on Crypto Exchanges Surges Over 100-Fold
The report by MEXC and CoinGecko reveals that traditional financial (TradFi) trading volume on centralized crypto exchanges has surged over 100-fold since January 2025, reaching a staggering $393.15 billion in June 2026.
This growth is largely driven by perpetual futures, which accounted for approximately 98.5% of total activity in June, generating $387.39 billion. Spot volume, on the other hand, was just $5.75 billion.
The report also shows that U.S. stocks have overtaken precious metals as the largest TradFi category, with a monthly volume surge of 337.4% to $189.84 billion in June. This represents a significant shift from the early dependence on gold and silver, with semiconductor stocks and major technology companies driving growth.
The survey conducted by MEXC found that among crypto-native users, 61.9% have already begun trading traditional assets on a crypto exchange, while 74.2% of TradFi-experienced users have transferred some or all of their activity to these platforms. Moreover, across the full sample, 83.3% plan to trade more.
