Treasury Buybacks Fuel Bitcoin ETF Surge as Yields Fall
Bitcoin ETF inflows have surged to their strongest run of 2026, with U.S. funds logging an eighth straight day of inflows on August 26. The streak has brought in roughly $2.8 billion, while August inflows have moved above $3 billion.
The Treasury's announcement of larger long-end buybacks on August 19 is seen as a contributing factor to the surge in demand. This move led to lower yields and a weaker dollar, creating an environment where investors may allocate more capital towards assets like Bitcoin.
However, despite the strong monthly recovery, annual institutional flows remain negative for 2026. The latest buying streak began on August 17, with spot Bitcoin ETFs drawing about $1.92 billion during the week ending August 21, marking their strongest weekly inflow since October 2025.
