Treasury Debt Buybacks and SEC Proposal Fuel Ethereum Rally
Ethereum has rallied over the past week, with prices climbing more than 20% to trade near $2,375. The surge follows a U.S. Treasury debt-buyback expansion and a new SEC crypto-token proposal.
The Treasury announced on August 19 that it will raise the size of its long-end buyback operations from $2 billion to at least $4 billion per operation starting September 9. This move is intended to support liquidity in the market for longer-dated bonds.
Meanwhile, the SEC proposed a rule called Regulation Crypto Assets, which would allow companies to raise up to $75 million a year from crypto token sales with lighter disclosure requirements than a full public stock offering.
Spot ether ETFs have also seen significant inflows, led by BlackRock's and Fidelity's ether funds. This has contributed to the overall rally in Ethereum prices.
