Treasury Move Sends Bitcoin Surging Past $74K
Bitcoin's price surged to $74,427 after the U.S. Treasury announced it would double its long-dated bond buyback ceiling from $2 billion to at least $4 billion per operation.
This move compressed yields and contributed to a broader risk-on market response, which included a significant short squeeze in Bitcoin.
According to VanEck's Matthew Sigel, the rally is being driven by concerns over U.S. fiscal policy and dollar weakness, rather than enthusiasm for the CLARITY Act, a crypto market structure bill still moving through Congress.
Sigel argued that pressure on U.S. finances can strengthen demand for Bitcoin as a scarce asset outside the traditional monetary system, making it 'one of the best hedges you can find' in this dynamic.
