Treasury's $125 Billion Stress Test: Will Bitcoin Ignore Wall Street's Pressure?
The US Treasury is set to conduct three auctions from August 11 through August 13, totaling $125 billion in sales. This event has been dubbed a 'stress test' for Bitcoin by some analysts, as higher yields could put pressure on the cryptocurrency.
However, history suggests that Bitcoin might not respond directly to Wall Street's moves. The latest data from the Treasury shows that 3-year, 10-year, and 30-year yields are at 4.25%, 4.65%, and 5.19% respectively, while Bitcoin is trading at $64,928.71.
The auctions will refinance approximately $96.3 billion in privately held debt maturing on August 15, with the remaining $28.7 billion in new cash being raised from investors. The July auction results show a baseline for the upcoming sales, with the 10-year reopening and 30-year reopening showing bid-to-cover ratios of 81.49% and 77.74%, respectively.
