Trezor and Ledger Hit by Data Breach Fallout and Lawsuits
Trezor and Ledger, two leading manufacturers of Bitcoin (BTC) hardware wallets, are facing new challenges in the wake of recent data breaches. According to Trezor, a ShipMonk breach affected approximately 81,000 customers, far exceeding initial reports of 14,000.
The exposed order data included full names, shipping addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. Trezor has urged its customers to be vigilant for potential scams, including fake emails, calls, letters, and physical security risks.
Meanwhile, Ledger is facing a class-action lawsuit over a 2023 data breach that the company allegedly downplayed. The complaint alleges that Ledger failed to timely and fully disclose the breach, demonstrating a 'disturbing pattern of negligent, reckless, and irresponsible behavior.'
