Trezor Mailing Breach Expands to 80,000 Affected Users
Trezor, a leading crypto hardware wallet company, has announced that its mailing breach has leaked even more users than initially thought. The new figure stands at 80,000 users after an initial leak of 13,689 customers was reported last month.
The company claims it didn't expect further leaks and that ShipMonk, its shipping partner, made them aware of the original leak on August 10. However, ShipMonk revealed that the breach actually went back to 2019 and 2021, covering orders within those timeframes.
Trezor says it had no reason to expect further leaks due to ShipMonk's repeated assurances. The company is now working with ShipMonk to arrange an additional audit of their systems and has apologized to affected users for the breach.
