TRON Aims for Everyday Stablecoin Utility with Indonesia Blockchain Week Plans
Justin Sun, founder of TRON, spoke at Indonesia Blockchain Week 2026 in Jakarta about scaling stablecoin payments and real-world blockchain use. The event's theme was 'Turning Infrastructure into Impact,' highlighting the shift from focusing solely on blockchain performance to practical applications.
TRON has built one of crypto's largest stablecoin networks, with over $91 billion in USDT supply and 75 million holders, surpassing Ethereum's volume at that time. The network processed a record $2.1 trillion in USDT transfers during Q2 2026.
The challenge now is translating this scale into everyday financial activity, such as payments, remittances, business settlements, payroll, and other transactions. Sun discussed how TRON is targeting a broader range of payment activities than simple wallet-to-wallet transfers, including consumer P2P payments, merchant checkout, B2B invoicing, cross-border remittances, and fiat on/off-ramps.
TRON's resource model uses Bandwidth and Energy rather than traditional gas fees, making transactions more predictable and simple. The network also promotes GasFree permit transfers to reduce friction in paying blockchain fees directly.
