Tron, Bitcoin Cash, and BlockDAG: A Tale of Utility-Based Value Proposals
Tron (TRX) and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) are two cryptocurrencies that have established themselves as payment coins, thanks to their utility-based value proposition. While BlockDAG (BDAG) is building its own ecosystem with a low entry price of $0.002.
Tron has positioned itself as the settlement engine for most global Tether transfers, hosting around $88 billion in USDT and processing roughly $2.1 trillion in quarterly stablecoin volume. This utility base gives TRX a unique characteristic among large-cap cryptocurrencies, with institutional interest also growing as Nasdaq-listed Tron Inc. holds over 708 million TRX as a treasury asset.
Bitcoin Cash, on the other hand, has held its base through 2026 despite being far below its 2017 peak. The coin's network has added capability through the introduction of CashTokens in 2023 and the Layla upgrade in May 2026, which extended programmability further. Supporters argue that this pushes BCH beyond simple transfers toward tokenized applications.
BlockDAG, meanwhile, is trying to build its utility base from an early stage by launching live products such as a casino, hardware miners, and an exchange, while the entry price still sits at $0.002. The project's argument is that established payment coins show that utility supports a price over time, and BlockDAG is attempting to replicate this before its first exchange listing.
