TRON Leads Charge Against Quantum Threat with Post-Quantum Cryptography Deployment
TRON is planning to deploy quantum-resistant cryptography on its mainnet, becoming the first major public blockchain to do so. This move comes as a response to the growing threat of quantum computers that could potentially break into crypto wallets and drain funds.
The current form of mathematics used in crypto, elliptic curve cryptography (ECDSA), relies on classical computers being unable to reverse-engineer public keys. However, quantum computers can process enormous numbers of possibilities simultaneously, making it possible for a powerful enough machine to crack public keys in hours using Shor's Algorithm.
This means that any wallet whose public key has been exposed on the blockchain is vulnerable to attack. TRON plans to deploy post-quantum signatures directly onto its mainnet, making it the first major blockchain to offer built-in quantum resistance for ordinary users.
