TRON Network Upgrade Set for August: What it Means for TRX
The TRON network is set to undergo an important upgrade in August, with node operators required to update their nodes by August 16, 2026. The upgrade, known as GreatVoyage-v4.8.2 or Pyrrho, aims to bring the TRON Virtual Machine closer to Ethereum standards while improving its virtual machine, APIs, node infrastructure, and developer experience.
The upgrade includes several key changes, including compatibility with Ethereum's Pectra and Osaka development, new TRON Virtual Machine instructions, native P-256 signature verification, and improved network connectivity and block synchronization. It also introduces changes to modular-exponentiation processing, expands APIs and JSON-RPC compatibility, and improves monitoring and node configuration tools.
TRX holders may be wondering if this update can change demand for the token, given that it currently trades around $0.316. However, the upgrade is unlikely to directly lower transaction fees, as TRON uses Bandwidth and Energy rather than Ethereum-style gas.
