Tron Stakes Its Claim as Dominant Stablecoin Player
Despite the stablecoin market's decline to $300-310 billion in late August 2026, Tron has defied this trend by adding a staggering $12B in stablecoin market cap, leading growth in 2026. The network's stablecoin supply hit a record $89.2 billion in Q2 2026, driven primarily by USDT, which accounts for 98.5% of all stablecoins on the network.
Tron now commands 28.7% of the entire stablecoin market, with weekly inflows consistently exceeding $700 million, sometimes reaching as high as $1 billion in August alone.
This growth is largely attributed to Tron's near-zero fees, making it the default rail for low-value peer-to-peer transfers, especially in emerging markets across Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Sending $20 worth of USDT on Ethereum still costs a few dollars in gas, whereas on Tron, it costs fractions of a cent.
