Tron Surpasses Ethereum as Largest USDT Host, Captures Emerging Markets
Tron's ecosystem continued to thrive in Q2, with its stablecoin market cap reaching a record $89.2 billion. The project surpassed Ethereum to become the largest host of Tether's flagship USDT token, cementing its leadership in the stablecoin market.
The introduction of a gasless feature allowed for fee-free transactions without paying TRX, contributing to Tron's allure in emerging markets. As a result, it captured 52% of sub-$1,000 USDT transfers amidst native-issuance chains.
Tron also hit record daily activity and leads in crypto card settlements, with the share of crypto card volumes rising to $887 million, capturing 34% of this market. Alex Obchakevich, a finance researcher at Artemis, noted that Tron's results show 'real, non-speculative, stable demand' driven by its focused use in stablecoin transfers and payments.
