Tron's Stablecoin Supply Surges Past $91 Billion
Tron's stablecoin supply has surpassed $91 billion after adding nearly $2 billion in just one month. This growth is not a surprise, given that Tron consistently dominates stablecoin throughput, despite rarely being in the headlines.
Nearly 97.9% of this total consists of Tether's USDT, making Tron the largest chain for USDT circulation since 2021. The network has processed an astonishing $4.2 trillion to $4.76 trillion in stablecoin transfers year-to-date through July, with daily averages of around $23.8 billion.
The transaction size distribution is particularly interesting, as a significant share of USDT transfers on Tron fall below $1,000, indicating retail-level and cross-border payment activity rather than whale-driven speculation. Tether favors Tron due to its high throughput and low costs, creating a self-reinforcing cycle.
Despite Tron's impressive growth metrics, the TRX token has not seen a proportional price response. The competitive landscape also deserves attention, as Circle's USDC is expanding across multiple chains, and new stablecoin entrants backed by traditional finance players are entering the market.
