Trump Administration Considers Expanding Cryptocurrency Holdings Beyond Bitcoin
US President Donald Trump has confirmed that his administration has discussed accumulating more Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
However, no purchase decisions have been made or a timetable set for such acquisitions.
The existing Strategic Bitcoin Reserve consists mainly of assets from federal forfeiture cases, and any new acquisitions must be budget-neutral without additional taxpayer costs.
Trump indicated that he would consider recommendations from SEC Chair Paul Atkins and other advisers to expand the administration's cryptocurrency holdings beyond Bitcoin.
