Trump Administration Paves Way for Perp DEXs to Enter US Market
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao has predicted a surge in US-accessible decentralized perpetual futures exchanges (perp DEXs) under the Trump administration. At a blockchain symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, on August 19, he stated that President Donald Trump's mention of bringing Hyperliquid to the U.S. was not limited to that platform.
Trump had earlier mentioned that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) was actively supporting the US expansion of perpetual futures, with particular emphasis on Hyperliquid. This marks a notable shift from previous regulatory stances that often limited or restricted such platforms.
The CFTC's involvement suggests a more collaborative approach, potentially paving the way for other similar platforms to seek compliance and offer services to U.S. traders. However, regulatory clarity remains a key challenge, with questions about jurisdiction, investor protection, and compliance with anti-money laundering rules likely to shape how quickly these platforms can scale in the U.S.
