The Trump administration released its National Cyber Strategy on Friday, which names cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies as areas to be protected by the federal government.

Galaxy Digital's head of firmwide research, Alex Thorn, said this is a first for any U.S. cybersecurity strategy, positioning decentralized technology alongside artificial intelligence and quantum computing in the country's broader competition with foreign rivals.

The document commits the government to accelerating its adoption of post-quantum cryptography across federal information systems, a move that could help mitigate risks posed by quantum computing to Bitcoin, as highlighted by Castle Island Ventures founder Nic Carter earlier this year.
