Trump-Affiliated Crypto Firm Received $100M From Man Under UK Police Investigation
A former British hardwood flooring retailer named Guren 'Bobby' Zhou made one of the largest purchases in World Liberty's history, investing $100 million in President Donald Trump's crypto company.
Zhou was identified by The New York Times as a suspect in a 2024 British court record naming him among six people involved in a money laundering scheme starting in 2019. However, British officials confirmed that the investigation remains active and no charges have been filed against Zhou.
The $100 million purchase left former associates stunned. His previous crypto venture, Caduceus, had burned through $7.6 million and collapsed, leaving investors with worthless tokens. Zhou quietly relocated from London to Abu Dhabi in 2024.
Zhou purchased the tokens through a company called Aqua 1, which had no public history before the transaction. Blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence determined that a wallet tied to Zhou's prior company Web3Port bought $20 million in World Liberty tokens in January 2025, and a second wallet linked to Aqua 1 bought $80 million in June 2025.
The Trump family-controlled company received as much as $75 million of the total. The Witkoff family also benefited from the investment. World Liberty spokesman David Wachsman stated that the company followed all applicable laws but declined to say whether it knew the source of Zhou's funds.
