Trump Agrees to Crypto Bill Ethics Rules Amid Senate Vote Looms
President Donald Trump agreed to new ethics rules for himself and his family in order to move forward with a cryptocurrency bill being debated in the Senate.
The $2.3 trillion market is awaiting a pivotal vote on Tuesday, which will determine whether crypto legitimacy is cemented into law or whether the industry unleashes more campaign cash in the midterm elections.
Senators Cynthia Lummis and Bernie Moreno met with Trump in mid-July to discuss the bill and were told that he would have to abide by conflict-of-interest restrictions to get key Democrats on board.
The initial agreement barred federally elected officials, their spouses, and federal judges from issuing digital assets, including meme coins like those launched by Trump and his wife Melania last January.
