Trump Agrees to Crypto Ethics Changes Ahead of Crucial CLARITY Act Vote
US President Donald Trump has agreed to key changes in crypto ethics ahead of the crucial voting on the CLARITY Act in the US Senate on September 15, 2026. The proposed law aims to create clearer federal rules for cryptocurrencies and digital assets.
The updated bill includes giving state attorneys general a role in enforcing the proposed law alongside the US Justice Department. It also requires officials to either divest or place in a blind trust any significant financial interest in an entity that issues cryptocurrencies.
State attorneys general could take legal action against a crypto exchange if it lists a digital asset prohibited under the legislation. The changes are seen as a significant step towards strengthening the ethics provisions in the CLARITY Act.
