Trump Agrees to Crypto Ethics Rules, But Will They Be Enough?
President Donald Trump has agreed to new ethics rules in order for a cryptocurrency bill to pass through Congress. The bill, known as the Clarity Act, aims to bring the $2.3 trillion crypto market into mainstream legitimacy.
The bill's fate now hangs on whether these sign-offs from Trump go far enough. Senate votes could determine if Washington cements crypto legitimacy into law or if a frustrated industry unleashes more campaign cash in midterm elections.
Crypto bill lead author Sen. Cynthia Lummis said, 'A vote against the Clarity Act isn't a principled stand against President Trump. It's a vote against implementing tough restrictions on politicians for crypto investments.'
