Trump Agrees to Ethics Rules in Bid to Pass Crypto Regulation Bill
US lawmakers have reached a significant breakthrough in negotiations over the proposed Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, also known as the CLARITY Act. In order to secure bipartisan support for the bill, President Donald Trump has agreed to include stricter ethics provisions.
The legislation aims to define how US regulators oversee digital assets and resolve a long-standing legislative deadlock. The compromise includes rules that mandate federal officials either divest from certain digital assets or place significant crypto-related financial interests into blind trusts.
The agreement also expands enforcement powers for state attorneys general, allowing them to sue cryptocurrency exchanges that list prohibited digital assets. This move is intended to address worries about potential conflicts of interest among government officials and build trust in the regulatory framework.
