Trump Agrees to Stricter Crypto Ethics Rules Ahead of Landmark Vote
President Donald Trump has agreed to tougher ethics rules for his crypto holdings after weeks of debate among lawmakers. The new provision would allow state attorneys general to enforce ethics rules on elected officials, a major sticking point for Democrats.
The concession came as Senate members prepared for a landmark vote on Tuesday on the CLARITY Act. This bill aims to impose stricter regulations on the cryptocurrency industry and address concerns about conflict of interest.
According to Senator Cynthia Lummis, Trump agreed to new ethics provisions that would bar federally elected officials, judges, and their spouses from launching crypto tokens. The President's agreement also includes enforcement by state attorneys general and the Department of Justice.
