Trump Agrees to Stricter Ethics Rules in CLARITY Act Push
The CLARITY Act has taken another step forward as President Donald Trump agreed to stricter ethics rules for federal officials. Wyoming Republican Sen. Cynthia Lummis announced this development, citing it as a key part of the efforts to secure support for the bill.
Lummis stated that the revised text includes over 120 requests from Democrats and the Tillis-Gallego ethics framework, which would apply to the president, vice president, members of Congress, federal judges, and their spouses. This expansion aims to address potential conflicts involving investments.
The CLARITY Act also includes provisions related to the crypto market. The revised package gives the Treasury Department new powers to respond to a surge in stablecoin-related withdrawals from community banks. It would also tighten restrictions on affiliate trading and conflicts of interest involving digital-commodity firms.
