Trump Allows State AGs to Sue Over Crypto-Related Conflicts
President Trump has agreed to allow state attorneys general to sue the Department of Justice and crypto exchanges if he or future presidents violate the CLARITY Act's restrictions. This compromise was reached after Senate Republicans released a transcript on Sunday night, reported by Eleanor Mueller.
The release is considered the party's 'last, best and final offer' to Democrats ahead of Tuesday's vote. It reflects roughly 80% of the Tillis-Gallego ethics proposal, which aims to address concerns over presidential conflicts of interest with crypto-related financial interests.
Under this agreement, Trump would still retain the choice to either divest his crypto-related financial interests or place them in a blind trust. The state attorneys general will have the authority to sue if these restrictions are violated.
