Trump and Vance Skeptical of AI Slowdown Conspiracy Theories
US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance have expressed skepticism over calls from top AI leaders to slow down the development of artificial intelligence models. According to reports, Trump and Vance questioned the timing and motivations behind these warnings, with Vance describing them as a 'Trojan Horse.'
In a press briefing on Monday, Vance said he felt 'a little bit weird' about AI companies 'begging the government to regulate them,' suggesting that their concerns may be driven by ulterior motives.
Trump took to his Truth Social platform to dismiss the need for additional regulations, stating that the US already has 'tremendous CRIMINAL and REGULATORY power over these companies.'
The president emphasized the importance of maintaining a competitive advantage in AI development over China, with Vance echoing this sentiment. The two leaders believe that slowing down AI development could put the US at a disadvantage.
