US President Donald Trump announced on June 12 that Mideast allies have agreed to the parameters for a deal to end the Iran war, with the US agreeing to hold off on new military strikes while negotiations proceed.

The framework was facilitated by Pakistan, which has positioned itself as the primary mediator in the conflict. The Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, scheduled for signing on June 17, would establish a 60-day window for negotiating final peace terms.

Trump suggested that the ceasefire agreement is close to being finalized, with expectations that a signing event could take place in Europe shortly after the memorandum. However, Iran has already pushed back on characterizations of a binding agreement existing.
