Trump Asserts US Dominance in AI and Crypto Amid Regulatory Uncertainty
US President Donald Trump recently met with cryptocurrency and technology leaders at the White House to discuss regulatory frameworks for digital assets and artificial intelligence. The meeting, which took place on August 19, 2026, was attended by Chairman of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Paul Atkins, Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Chairman Michael Selig, and Chairman of the NYSE and CEO of Intercontinental Exchange Jeffrey Sprecher.
In a statement, President Trump claimed that the US is 'leading by a lot' in AI and crypto, and wants to keep it that way. The meeting comes as the CLARITY Act, a landmark bill that would define SEC and CFTC jurisdiction over digital assets, remains stalled in the Senate.
