Trump-Backed Crypto Firm Draws Scrutiny Over Ties to Restricted Chinese AI Models
World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency venture backed by President Donald Trump and his family, has partnered with WorldClaw, a Hong Kong-based AI platform. The partnership allows users to access 90 AI models, including 43 developed by Chinese companies such as Alibaba, Baidu, and Z.ai.
The arrangement raises concerns about potential conflicts of interest between the Trump administration's policies towards Chinese technology and the president's financial connection to World Liberty. The White House has rejected these concerns, stating that there are 'no conflicts of interest' and that Trump acts in the interests of the American public.
WorldClaw accepts World Liberty's USD1 stablecoin as a method of payment for access to AI services. The Trump family owns 38% of World Liberty and is entitled to a share of revenue connected with the company's crypto products.
