Trump-Backed Crypto Firm Linked to Venture Offering Restricted Chinese AI
A US-based cryptocurrency company backed by Donald Trump's family has partnered with a Hong Kong venture that provides access to AI models from Chinese companies facing national security restrictions in the US.
The collaboration between World Liberty Financial (WLF) and WorldClaw, a platform offering dozens of AI models, comes at a sensitive time for Washington's technology policy as it intensifies efforts to limit China's access to advanced artificial intelligence technology.
Nearly half of the roughly 90 AI models available through WorldClaw are developed by Chinese companies that have been placed on US government lists over national security or military-related concerns.
The Trump administration is pursuing a broader strategy to constrain China's technology ambitions, including imposing restrictions on Chinese tech companies and tightening controls around advanced semiconductors and other technologies considered strategically important to AI.
