Trump-Backed Crypto Firm Tainted by Money Laundering Suspect's $100 Million Investment
A financial scandal has engulfed World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a cryptocurrency platform backed by President Donald Trump's sons. The company received a $100 million investment from Guren 'Bobby' Zhou, who is currently under investigation for alleged money laundering in the UK.
Zhou was previously involved in a failed cryptocurrency start-up and has been linked to suspicious dealings with WLFI. His UAE-based firm, Aqua 1, invested an aggregate of $100 million in WLFI via a significant token purchase.
This revelation comes on the heels of a Senate Democrats' demand for hearings into a transaction involving Abu Dhabi royal Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan's associates buying a 49% stake in WLFI. Trump's disclosure revealed he earned more than $580 million from WLFI in 2025, with his total cryptocurrency profits exceeding $1 billion.
A White House spokesperson dismissed suggestions of 'conflict of interest' for the president or his family, stating that all actions are taken in the 'best interest of the American people.'
