Trump-Backed Crypto Firm Tied to Restricted Chinese Tech Through AI Partnership

Share

A US-based cryptocurrency firm backed by President Donald Trump's family business ventures has formed a partnership with a Hong Kong-based AI venture that offers restricted Chinese tech.

The company, World Liberty Financial, has been criticized for potential conflicts of interest due to its ties with the Trump Organization and its acceptance of tokens as payment for access to AI models developed by Chinese companies flagged for national security concerns.

The partnership was formed through an investment vehicle backed by Abu Dhabi royal Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, which secured a significant stake in World Liberty Financial ahead of the presidential inauguration.

According to tech ethics experts, the business collaboration runs counter to the US government's strict stance toward Chinese tech companies and is 'hypocritical' given the administration's efforts to respond to the rise of Chinese AI.
