Trump-Backed Crypto Venture Tied to Chinese AI Firm Raises Security Concerns
The Trump-backed crypto venture World Liberty Financial is facing scrutiny over its partnership with Hong Kong-based AI company WorldClaw. The partnership is raising concerns due to WorldClaw's use of Chinese-developed AI models, some of which are owned by companies that have faced U.S. government restrictions.
WorldClaw offers about 90 AI models through its WorldRouter service, with 43 developed by Chinese companies including Alibaba, Baidu, and Z.ai. The platform also accepts World Liberty's USD1 stablecoin, which is beneficial to the Trump family-owned company due to their 38% stake.
The U.S. government has designated Alibaba and Baidu as Chinese military-aligned companies, while Z.ai is on the U.S. Commerce Department's Entity List, restricting access to U.S. technology. WorldClaw has stated that its platform may share user inputs with model providers, raising concerns about monitoring, censorship, and malicious code.
