Trump-Backed Firm Partners With AI Platform Featuring Chinese Tech Giants
US President Donald Trump's family has a significant financial interest in World Liberty Financial, which is collaborating with Hong Kong-based AI platform WorldClaw. WorldClaw provides access to AI models developed by several Chinese technology companies, including those that have faced US national security scrutiny.
The arrangement raises concerns about the potential conflict between the Trump administration's tougher stance on certain Chinese tech firms and its family's business ties.
WorldLiberty earns revenue from cryptocurrency activities, including the USD1 stablecoin, which is backed by traditional assets like US Treasury securities. The Trump family owns a 38% stake in World Liberty and is entitled to a share of the interest generated from these activities.
The White House defended the collaboration, stating there was no conflict of interest involved. However, experts in Chinese technology, trade, and government ethics see a potential contradiction between the partnership and the Trump administration's stance on certain Chinese tech firms.
