Trump-Backed Firm Partners with Chinese AI Venture Amid National Security Concerns
A company backed by President Donald Trump's World Liberty Financial is collaborating with Hong Kong-based venture WorldClaw, which offers AI models from Chinese companies flagged for national security concerns. The partnership allows users to access a suite of AI models and pay using World Liberty's crypto tokens.
Nearly half of the 90 models available through WorldClaw were developed by Alibaba, Baidu, Z.ai, and other Chinese tech giants that the Trump administration has restricted due to national-security risks. WorldClaw also offers models from US firms such as OpenAI and Anthropic.
Seven experts on Chinese technology, trade, and government ethics criticized the business collaboration, saying it goes against the administration's stance towards Chinese tech companies.
