Trump-Backed World Liberty Financial Token Trails Broader Crypto Rally
The World Liberty Financial (WLFI) token, backed by the Trump family, failed to keep pace with the broader cryptocurrency market in July. While the total market capitalization increased by 6.8%, WLFI declined further, extending its losing streak.
The coin's struggles come as President Donald Trump earned more than $580 million from World Liberty Financial, a decentralized finance platform that lists his sons as co-founders. WLFI went live for trading in September 2025 and has since plummeted, wiping out roughly $6 billion worth of investors' wealth.
Morten Christensen, founder of AirdropAlert, holds some WLFI but expressed skepticism about the project's potential due to his locked-in holdings. World Liberty Financial sued Justin Sun for defamation in May, following earlier allegations of fraud and frozen token holdings by Sun.
