Trump Backs US Market Access for Anonymity-Focused Crypto Exchange Hyperliquid
President Donald Trump has expressed his openness to US market access for Hyperliquid, a Singapore-based cryptocurrency exchange that allows users to trade anonymously. This move won't please domestic competitors like Intercontinental Exchange Inc. and CME Group Inc., who have urged officials to rein in the exchange due to concerns it could be used to manipulate prices or dodge sanctions.
Trump made his comments during a White House event for the CFTC's Innovation Advisory Committee's inaugural meeting, which took place on Thursday. The committee aims to foster innovation and growth in the digital assets space, with attendees including crypto firms like Coinbase, Kraken, and Gemini, as well as trade associations like Digital Chamber.
Blockchain Association CEO Summer Mersinger attended the event and told Semafor that Trump's comments were 'a very motivating moment for the industry.'
