Trump Calls Off Iran Strike for Fourth Time

US President Donald Trump has canceled a planned large-scale military strike against Iran, citing requests from Tehran and regional allies. This is the fourth time in recent months that Trump has called off military action against Iran.

The decision pivots towards a diplomatic framework aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz for shipping and addressing Iran's nuclear program. The Strait of Hormuz is crucial for global energy infrastructure, as roughly a fifth of the world's oil supply flows through it.

Iran's defense minister responded to the news by saying that the country remains 'neither surprised nor passive' regarding the negotiations. High-level negotiations are reportedly underway and could involve US Vice President JD Vance.

The cancellation of the strike should provide temporary relief to oil markets, but the underlying risk has not been removed. If negotiations collapse and the Strait of Hormuz remains disrupted, energy prices may surge, feeding inflation and influencing Federal Reserve policy.
