Trump Caves on Crypto Bill Ethics Provisions After Bipartisan Push

President Donald Trump has agreed to a significant portion of a stringent ethics proposal included in a broader cryptocurrency bill. The bill, set for a key vote this week, initially only barred federally elected officials and their spouses from issuing digital assets.

A group of Democrats, including Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., pushed for language that would allow state attorneys general to step in and enforce the law, rather than just the Justice Department.

Trump's agreement includes a 'meaningful role' for state attorneys general to play in enforcing the crypto measure should it become law, according to Republican Sens. Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, Tim Scott of South Carolina, and John Boozman of Arkansas.
