Trump Concedes to Crypto Ethics Provisions in CLARITY Act Ahead of Senate Vote
President Donald Trump has agreed to key ethics provisions in the CLARITY Act ahead of a crucial Senate procedural vote on September 15. The concession comes after months of bipartisan negotiations between Republican and Democratic senators.
According to a senior GOP aide, Trump agreed to about 80% of the Tillis-Gallego ethics proposal, which includes measures such as divesting significant crypto-related financial interests or placing them in a blind trust for certain officials. The revised bill would also give state attorneys general enforcement powers over certain crypto violations.
The concession addresses conflict-of-interest concerns raised by Sen. Thom Tillis and Democratic senators, who had pushed for stronger enforcement provisions. Republican Sens. Cynthia Lummis, Tim Scott, and John Boozman confirmed on X that the changes give state attorneys general a meaningful enforcement role.
