Trump Digital Asset Plans Face Ethics Talks Amid Scaled-Back Crypto Initiatives

Share

President Donald Trump's plans for digital assets are facing ethics talks as his media company, Trump Media, has scaled back two Crypto.com initiatives. The developments come amid stalled Senate market-structure negotiations over ethics rules.

The Senate is discussing requirements for Trump to divest crypto-related businesses under the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. A proposed language could also allow deferred capital-gains taxes on qualifying divestitures. Trump has suggested accepting a blind trust covering his crypto interests, saying 'I don't mind putting it in a blind trust… I let my kids run it.'

The Senate left without voting before its August recess, leaving ethics language as an obstacle alongside disputes over bank competition and crypto rewards.
