Trump Digital Gold Collapse Exposes Exit-Liquidity Traps in Memecoin Market
The Trump Digital Gold token's explosive collapse highlights the risks of viral memecoin rallies and the importance of market checks. The Solana-based GOLD token briefly reached a $66 million market capitalization after being promoted by realtrumpcoins1, an account claiming to be an official partner of the Trump Organization.
The post was later deleted, raising questions about whether the account had been compromised. Shortly afterward, GOLD's market capitalization plummeted from around $55 million to just $1 million within 30 seconds.
A closer look at the token's ownership structure reveals a significant concentration of supply in the hands of alleged scam group addresses. These addresses controlled 82.45% of the total supply, having accumulated 824.54 million GOLD through pre-allocation and purchases after launch.
When these addresses sold their positions, they generated an estimated $312,000 profit, leaving later buyers exposed to a massive sell-off. One trader reportedly lost around $62,100 within seven minutes, illustrating the speed at which market capitalization can evaporate once selling accelerates.
