Trump Dismisses AI Regulation Calls as 'Sick Conspiracy'
President Trump has dismissed calls for greater government oversight of artificial intelligence (AI), claiming that it's part of a 'SICK conspiracy' against AI and data centers. Tech leaders such as Dario Amodei from Anthropic, Sam Altman from OpenAI, and Elon Musk have advocated for stricter regulations to ensure the technology is developed safely.
Trump took to social media to assert his presence in the Oval Office is enough to assuage fears about AI. He claimed that a 'STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT' like himself is all the control or 'guardrails' AI needs, and that the U.S.A. has that in spades.
The president specifically mentioned that his administration had already stopped Anthropic from doing potentially bad things. Anthropic has faced an uncomfortable relationship with the Trump administration, with the Pentagon labeling its models a security risk and temporarily banning one of its advanced models.
